Fixing the problem of missing text in controls and message boxes

On some machines running .NET 1.1 the captions of labels, buttons, and
message boxes, and the items of listboxes and comboboxes in Windows Forms
applications are not displayed.

Typically this behavior is caused by a bug in McAfee VirusScan's buffer
overflow protection.  The product's manufacturer Network Associates is
aware of the problem and has released a patch that will fix it.  For some
unknown reason this patch is not automatically applied by the product's
update functionality and thus must be installed by hand.

If installing the patch is not an option disabling the buffer overflow
protection feature will prevent the problem from occuring.
